Thomas Rutz joined MainFirst as a Portfolio Manager back in 2012 and is responsible for emerging market investments for MainFirst Emerging Markets Corporate Bond Fund Balanced and MainFirst Emerging Markets Credit Opportunities Fund. He also heads up MainFirst Affiliated Fund Managers (Schweiz) AG. His career path had previously taken him to Clariden Leu, where he managed the Emerging Markets department (consisting of equity, fixed-income and currency teams) with over EUR 1 billion in assets under management and was responsible for investment strategies in emerging markets at the end of his tenure. He previously held positions at ABB Capital B.V. in Zurich and the Bank of Bermuda in Singapore, where he worked as Deputy Chief Trader and Capital Market Manager. In the period from 1985 to 1994, Thomas Rutz held various positions in proprietary trading at UBS in Zurich, London, New York, Chicago and Hong Kong.
